  i have a problem.

  my hubby and i are tying to fade out completely, but we ran into a snag.

  my in-laws showed up with a stack of time slips and said that they will turn them in for us if we fill them out.

  This comment is paradoxically a very honest admission of the commenter's untruthfulness and dishonesty and would be useful to bear in mind when evaluating how trustworthy his other posts are.

  I say if you don't want to be a Witness you should do the honorable thing and tell the truth about it instead of remaining in the congregation as imposters on false pretenses.

  Ad hominem isn't necessary in order to make a point. I know it is the Watchtower way but get over that please if you want to have productive conversations here.

  As for the implication that fading is dishonest, Theocratic Warfare Strategy teaches us that some people do not deserve the truth and that it is perfectly ok to lie to them to protect the spirituality of ourselves and others. Fading does that. Many stay in the borg because of the threat of shunning by family and friends and with the hope of enlightening others to the truth. The victims of the cult have been lied to for almost a century and a half and indoctrinated to avoid and shun the blunt honesty your post would seem to recommend. Fudging a time sheet (which rank and file Dubs already do all the time) isn't an unforgivable sin when the intention is fading and helping others escape the borg.

  Hey 5th generation, what sort of problems happened by continuing to report the family study? I'm at this point, too, and would like to know what to expect. Thanks.

  my guesses for releases this year will be an update creation book and a book on jeremiah.

  two books were released as recently as 2008 so i don't think this would be out of the question.. friday.

  well, i knew it was only a matter of time before my parents confronted me on my "loss of spirituality" (their term).

  i love them dearly and would rather cut off an arm than hurt them, so i was hoping (naively) that my so far successful fade might escape their notice.

  we live about an hour apart so my lack of theocratic activity would go unnoticed.

  Mini nailed it. We help people, we listen to their problems, we have a good time.

  Personally, I'm having a blast since I've been here. I used to regularly participate in four or five discussion boards all pretty much equally. Now, my discussion board time is 90% here. Wouldn't do it if it wasn't healthy and fun.

  Superior Authorities of Romans 13

  romans 13:1,2 (nwt): "let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by god; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by god.

  2 therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of god; those who have taken a stand against it will receive judgment to themselves.".

  originally the borg taught that the superior authorities were gentile governments.. later, in 1929, they taught that the superior authorities were jehovah god and his son, jesus christ.. later once again, in 1962, they taught that the superior authorities were the governments of the world.. a change is due.

  Thanks for those WT quotes Blondie. I find them both humorous and sad. Funny how they can twist and reason any verse to mean anything they want it to and sad that the rank and file lap it all up as "light" from above.

  How honest should I be with a JW on Facebook?

  so this woman that i grew up with has sent me a friend request on facebook.

  we've done a bit of back and forth "how are you" chat but i haven't accepted her request.. i can see she is still a jw because she belongs to some no-blood facebook group.. i do not want to be her friend on facebook.

  i consider witnesses to be bad association and i severely limit the number of jw's i have on my facebook - only close family and people that i share close history with.. so what should i say to this woman?

  What I was going to suggest is using theocratic warfare strategy. Determine whether she is both worthy of and can handle the truth before deciding how honest to be with her.
